I heart Market moves to Point Waterfront

The market announced that it will celebrate its new location at The Hay Store at the Point Waterfront with a sizzling Spring Sale on Saturday, September 7 from 9am to 2pm.

THE show will go on for Durban’s iconic I heart Market which came to a grinding halt when the Moses Mabhida Stadium rental fee jumped by R41 792. The market that runs on the first Saturday of every month was rescued this month when Jonsson Kings Park Stadium was used as the venue of the popular market.

But for September the market organisers announced that it will celebrate its new location at The Hay Store at the Point Waterfront with a sizzling Spring Sale on Saturday, September 7 from 9am to 2pm.

Market owner Anna Savage said The Hay Store is innovative urban warehouse which is exactly what she needed to take the I heart Market to the next level.

“Our previous venue was so unique that we realised that we needed to look for another venue that was equally unique but completely different at the same time. And we have some interesting ideas which we will plan and roll out over time.”

She added that she decided to embrace change following the sudden rental increase.

“I realised that with this change of venue we had an opportunity to embrace the change and start implementing more experiential aspects to the market that we had been wanting to do for a while, but were not able to do, due to venue constraints. We are very excited about the move. The Waterfront has a lot going for it – Ushaka, great beaches, the North Pier at the entrance of the harbour has just been opened, the Vetchs promenade extension will be opening in the future, and there are interesting neighbours like Robsons Brewery, The Chairman Jazz Club and Ciao Bella Restaurant,” said Savage.

Situated in Durban’s evolving Point Waterfront, on the corner of Albert Terrace and Camperdown Road, there is street parking with car-guards. The new venue is also on the People Mover route and can be reached by bicycle or walking from the promenade.
