VIDEO-Four injured in horrific Ruth First Highway accident

One of the patients had to be airlifted to hospital due to the severity of their injuries.

FOUR people have been injured, three critically so, in a crash on the M4 Ruth First Highway. The crash, involving three vehicles, occurred just before the M41 off-ramp. According to Rescue Care Paramedics spokesperson, Garrith Jamieson, the M4 was closed due to the horrific accident.

“The M4 was closed from the uMhlanga off-ramp (northbound) and the La Lucia off-ramp (southbound). One of the critically injured patients had to be airlifted to hospital. Another patient is still severely entrapped in the wreckage and rescue personnel are trying to extricate the patient,” he said.

According to Netcare 911 spokesperson, Shawn Herbst, reports from the scene indicate that a SUV and two light motor vehicles were involved in a collision.

“Circumstances leading up to the collision will be investigated by the Durban North SAPS who were on scene,” he said.
