A second man has been arrested and charged with malicious damage to property.

DURBAN North SAPS have arrested another man in connection with rock throwing incidents in uMhlanga over the weekend. Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the police station, said the suspect has been charged with malicious damage to property.

Police first made an arrest of a man throwing bricks at vehicles near the Gateway off-ramp on the M41 (northbound) more than a week ago.

Since his arrest, four more cases have been registered at the station leading to Deokaran issuing a warning to motorists.

“While we have now arrested two people for rock throwing we are urging motorists to be vigilant specifically in this area. Most of the cases have occurred between 6am and 8am. We will be patrolling in that area more frequently but we would also like to make motorists aware of the situation,” he said.
