ANC to announce Zandile Gumede’s fate

Gumede has been on special leave from her position as eThekwini mayor since June.

THE African National Congress (ANC) is set to announce the outcome of their Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) meetings concerning embattled eThekwini mayor, Zandile Gumede. The announcement will be made during a press conference at the ANC offices in the central Durban at 12pm.

After being charged with fraud,  corruption and racketeering, Gumede has been on special leave from her position as eThekwini mayor since June.

In May, Gumede, councillor Mondli Mthembu and businessman, Craig Ponnan were granted R50 000 bail each following their brief appearance in the  Durban Specialised Commercial Court  as part of the Hawks’ National Clean Audit Task Team (NCATT) investigation into the R208 million DSW tender.
