The homeowners were asleep when the thief entered their uMgeni Park home.

GREENWOOD Park SAPS have urged residents in their policing precinct to ensure their doors and windows are closed following a break-in at a Thames Place home in the early hours of Monday morning.

According to Sergeant Vincent Mthembu, spokesman for the Greenwood Park station, the thief dropped some of the stolen loot.

“It is unclear how the thief entered the home. The residents were asleep at the time of the break-in. In the suspect’s haste to get away he dropped a TV outside the home but managed to make off with other items including a PlayStation and an Xbox,” Mthembu said.

He added there had been a spate of break-ins in the Rosehill area where residents were being targeted by opportunistic thieves.
