VIRGINIA and Glenashley residents might not be able to make their mark in the by-election for a new Ward 35 councillor taking place on 7 August if they are incorrectly registered to vote, said Ward 36 councillor, Shaun Ryley.
Residents who are incorrectly registered have until midnight on 1 July to change their registration details.
Residents who live on the following roads are urged to check that they are registered correctly:
Adelaide Drive, Adrienne Avenue, Anil Road, Ann Arbor, Ashley Avenue, Aubrey Place, Betty Place, Bill Simpson Drive, Blackwood Place, Blue Ridge, Braemar Avenue, Burne Crescent, Clinch Crescent, Danville Avenue, David Avenue , Delaware Avenue, Doreen Crescent, Gemmell Place, Harold Place, Kensington Dr (house number 200 and up), Kentucky Drive, Kerhode Place, Laughton Avenue, Lindsay Drive, Lydia Drive, Lynn Avenue, Marion Avenue, Maryland Avenue, Middlebrook Avenue, Minerva Avenue, Newport Avenue, O’Connor Place, Potomac Avenue, Reeves Road, Roger Place, Savell Avenue, Taylor Place, The Promenade, Vickers Place, Ypsilanti Avenue.
“If you live on these roads, your correct voting station is Glenashley Junior Primary School. If you are registered at Northwood School then you will not be able to vote in the by-election because Northwood is a voting station for Ward 36 and not Ward 35,” said Ryley.
To check if you are correctly registered at Glenashley Junior Primary School, SMS your ID number to 32810.
Residents who live on any of these roads and are registered at Northwood have until midnight on 1 July to change their registration details. This can be done in one of two ways:
