Glenashley security guard shot on duty

The security guard was shot in his stomach when a scuffle broke out with two armed suspects.

A PRIVATE security guard is fighting for his life after he was attacked and shot by armed suspects while on patrol on Harold Place in Glenashley.

Marshall Security spokesperson, Kyle Van Reenen said the suspects fled on foot and remain at large.

“Reports from the scene indicate that the man was confronted by two suspects armed with a firearm, a scuffle allegedly broke out and the suspects fired a shot, striking the guard in the abdomen,” he said.

The guard was treated and stabilized by Crisis Medical paramedics before being taken through to hospital for further care. SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
