WHAT started off as a plea for R10 electricity on Twitter soon escalated to more than R2 000 worth of electricity for one young woman.
The woman from Khayelitsha who calls herself @Moms_of_LiLith shared her meter number, appealing for people to buy her R10 electricity.

This appeal saw floods of replies containing different amounts of electricity, some going as far as asking to buy the Tweep some necessities to push throughout the month.

This act of kindness has warmed the hearts of many on platforms such as Twitter and Facebook.
The mother of two shared an emotional tweet that her electricity had never gone above 60Kwh. The woman expressed her gratitude to all those who showed her humanity, promising to keep everyone updated on how far the kind gestures go.
