Flight turns back after ‘minor technicality’ spotted

The airline confirmed that there was a minor technical issue relating to one of the sensors on the aircraft this morning.

WHILE passengers aboard FlySafair flight FA128 from Cape Town to Johannesburg  had to return to Cape Town due to a minor technical issue on their aircraft, the airline has confirmed that flight FA163 from Durban to Cape Town will depart at 3pm today.

In a statement on their website, FlySafair said crew aboard flight FA128 received an alert about the way the aircraft was balancing fuel loads and,  in the interest of safety returned to Cape Town International so that the aircraft could be inspected. The aircraft landed safely in Cape Town at 6:56am, 38 minutes after take off at 6:18 am. 

We appreciate that this sort of delay causes customers a great deal of inconvenience. We’re proud to be the most punctual airline in the world, and it pains us to inconvenience customers in this way, but we know that our customers appreciate the fact that we will always put safety first in all cases,” read the statement.

The airline confirmed that there was a minor technical issue relating to one of the sensors on the aircraft this morning.

“The issue was easily resolved but has resulted in the delay of one of our aircraft, which will have knock-on effects to the flights that aircraft is due to operate throughout the day,” read the statement.
