What’s new at the movies?

ENJOY the last weekend of the school holidays with movie magic you’ll believe, as Disney’s new live-action remake of Dumbo starts showing at Nu Metro cinemas in KwaZulu-Natal this week. Families and kids of all ages will be taken on an enchanting and often touching adventure with this all-time classic tale of the adorable flying elephant turned into a circus star.

DUMBO (PG)
Disney’s new live-action feature film, Dumbo, introduces Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell), a former circus star who finds his life turned upside-down when he returns from the war. Circus owner Max Medici (Danny DeVito) enlists Holt to care for a newborn elephant, whose oversized ears make him a laughing stock in an already-struggling circus.

But, when Holt’s children discover that Dumbo can fly, persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton) and an aerial artist named Colette Marchant (Eva Green) swoop in to make the peculiar pachyderm a star.

HOTEL MUMBAI (16 DLV)
Hotel Mumbai is a gripping true story of humanity and heroism, as it vividly recounts the 2008 siege of the famed Taj Hotel by a group of terrorists in Mumbai, India. Among the dedicated hotel staff is the renowned chef Hemant Oberoi (Anupam Kher) and a waiter (Academy Award-Nominee Dev Patel, Slumdog Millionaire) who choose to risk their lives to protect their guests. As the world watches on, a desperate couple (Armie Hammer, Call Me By Your Name and Nazanin Boniadi, “Homeland”) is forced to make unthinkable sacrifices to protect their newborn child.
