Siam Lee murder trial to continue at Durban High Court

The state alleges that the Assagay resident kidnapped Lee from outside her place of employment on Margaret Maytom Avenue in Durban North.

THE man accused of raping and murdering Siam Lee is set to appear at the Durban High Court on Monday.
Following a lengthy bail hearing spanning over months, the man, who cannot be named as he is yet to plea on a separate rape charge, was granted R40 000 bail in June last year.
During his bail hearing he claimed he had been tortured and assaulted by both the police and private investigator, Brad Nathanson and his team – who arrested the 30-year-old businessman.
The state alleges that the Assagay resident kidnapped Lee from outside her place of employment on Margaret Maytom Avenue in Durban North on 4 January 2018, raped and held her captive for more than 24 hours.
He then, allegedly, bludgeoned her to death, drove her body to a secluded sugarcane field in New Hanover where he burned her body.
Her charred remains would be discovered the next morning by a farmer and his grandson.
The disappearance of the 20-year-old woman sparked a nation-wide search.
