Support deadlift challenge in aid of PACT

uMhlanga residents Lil and Scott Kimble who own the gym have decided to host the deadlift competition.

OFF The Grid Athletic (OTG) strength and conditioning facility will be hosting ‘Dawn of the Dead’ a “deadlift only” competition on Saturday, 23 February. The event starts at 9am.

Proceeds from the entry fees will go toward the Phoenix Animal Care & Treatment (PACT).

PACT, an NPO was established in March 2012 dedicated to providing care and medical treatment for animals in the Phoenix area.

uMhlanga residents Lil and Scott Kimble who own the gym have decided to host the deadlift competition in the hope of raising awareness and have encouraged onlookers and participants to donate a can of pet food.

“We’ve hosted this event for the last few years and we’ve been encouraged by the turnout and the support from the lifters and the community. We love animals and often support local animal charities, but this was a first for us by hosting a powerlifting competition for PACT. We are encouraging spectators to bring a can of pet food on the day. All of proceeds raised will go to PACT. We want residents to come and support the event and we are urging spectators to bring a can or a bag of pet food,” Scott said.

The gym is situated on the corner of Equinox and Meridian Drive.

Event details: The Dawn of the Deadlift charity deadlift competition takes place on Saturday, 23 February from 9am. The entry fee is R250 and spectators are urged to bring cat and dog food. Email lil@otgathletic.co.za for entry forms.
