Brass number thieves arrested in Prestondale

The suspects said they were selling the brass numbers to a scrap dealer outside the area.

TWO suspects were arrested on Thursday afternoon after they were caught red-handed stealing brass house numbers from a home in Prestondale.

According to Shaun Russouw of Visec Security, the suspects had stolen numbers from a home on Maple Close.

In the past the Durban North police station has warned of brass metal thieves targeting homes in and around the policing precinct.

“The suspects were found in possession of a number of brass numbers and admitted they had taken the items from a home on Maple Close and had been targeting homes in the area. According to information presented by the suspects they were selling the pieces to a scrap metal dealer outside the area,” he said.

The suspects were handed over to the Durban North SAPS.
