Glenhills baby home buoyed by community support

A Good Samaritan has offered the use of a spare car to the baby home for the time being.

RACHEL Uys of the Ray of Hope Babies Home (Imisebe Yelanga) has thanked the north Durban community for their messages of support and their help since the baby home’s vehicle was stolen more than two weeks ago at a supermarket in Virginia.

The vehicle which had signage all over the car was stolen from an underground parking lot. “It was only after reviewing the CCTV footage I realised I had been followed.

“The suspects used a vehicle without number plates and they remote jammed me. Within a few minutes they had stolen the car, which is dedicated to the needs of the baby home,” she said.

After putting out an appeal on Facebook to be on the lookout for the vehicle, a Good Samaritan came forward.

“He is linked to the Independent Crisis Team and lent the home a spare vehicle which was incredibly kind of him.
“I’m very grateful as this has made getting around much easier.

“I don’t know where we would be without having a vehicle. I’d like to thank the north Durban community for their support through this difficult time. People have really opened their hearts to our plight and donated several items for the babies in our car which is incredible,” she said.
