New look for Quattro ROAG Series

The Illovo Wartburg MTB Classic & Trail Run will once again kick off the prestigious series early this month

THE country’s richest mountain biking and trail running series, the Quattro ROAG Series powered by Momentum, will start in a few days with a new joint sponsor on board, increased prize money and a slightly updated format.

The Illovo Wartburg MTB Classic & Trail Run will once again kick off the prestigious series early this month. At the end of ten events in September, the top mountain-bike and trail run competitors on a Grand Prix-style points system, will walk off the biggest prize money of any MTB and Trail Running series in the country. The men’s and women’s winners will enjoy equal reward for their efforts.

The Quattro ROAG Series was the brainchild of the Race Organiser Admin Group (ROAG), one of the largest sports entry event administration companies in South Africa and Mauritius, and was devised as a way of giving back to their clients and mountain biking and trails running events and their competitors.

The series is not only about the elite athletes, with all age categories being rewarded. The top three winners in all age categories (for both mountain biking and trail running) will receive prize money and a gift at the annual Awards Dinner in October. The total prize purse is in excess of R170 000.

For the first time the top schools will also be able to compete for an inter-schools prize. Prize money of R5 000 will go to both the winning high school and top primary school in the School’s Challenge. The School’s Challenge has been created in an effort to grow mountain biking and trail running from a grassroots level and to encourage up-and-coming riders and runners to participate in more races.

In the School’s Challenge points are awarded to schools for each learner that crosses the line which ensures the top schools are rewarded for participation as well as having the best riders and runners.
