THREE north Durban belly dancers will join a talented cast of some of Southern Africa’s top belly dancers for the upcoming dance spectacular ‘Happily Never After’.
Senta Duffield (Sunningdale), Tersia Flanagan (Glenashley), and Nikita Kelina Achary (Mount Edgecombe) are all part of the theatrical dance production, which is a twist on beloved fairy tales reimagined through the language of belly dance and world fusion dance.
The trio from The Maya Company, spoke to Northglen News last week about their involvement in the show.

“I’m one of five choreographers the producers have invited and it’s a huge honour to be involved. So far we’ve performed in Johannesburg to a great reception, now it’s Durban, then Cape Town and finally, Windhoek (Namibia). I will be playing Ursula and it’s very exciting to be part of the show and portray an iconic character through dance,” she said.
Duffield, who teaches Flanagan and Achary, said she was incredibly proud of her dancers.
“I didn’t have anything to do with the selection of the dancers but I’m so excited that Tersia and Nikita will be part of the show because they have worked so hard for this. They have spent the last few months learning choreography and preparing for rehearsal week,” she enthused.

NOVA Nouveau Productions presents ‘Happily Never After’ on Friday, 1 February at 8pm and on Saturday, 2 February from 8pm at the iZulu Theatre, Sibaya. Tickets cost R180 p/p (general admission) and R150 p/p (kids U12 and pensioners). Tickets can be purchased online from computicket.
