Security contract on Riverside Road ends

The City has confirmed the contract with the security company guarding various spots along the road has come to an end.

THE current rejuvenation project on Riverside Road has been welcomed by a number of residents, stakeholders and ward councillor, Shaun Ryley.

Key to the rejuvenation project has been the security presence on the busy road with eight security guards posted at various points along the route popular with visitors and cyclists.

Since the attack and stabbing of cyclist, Dave Douglas on the M4 (turret staircase near the mangroves) last November, there have been no major incidents confirmed Ryley.

Now the City has confirmed the contract with the security company guarding various spots along the road has come to an end.

“This period has been used as a testing phase to see what measures will work going forward. I have motivated for continued security presence due to the positive impact it has had on the route since it was implemented,” explained Ryley.

Now that the contract has come to an end, Ryley urged those using Riverside Road for recreational purposes to be extra vigilant.
