KZN’s top male model hails from La Lucia

The 24-year-old La Lucia resident was one of hundreds of hopefuls vying for the title which was announced at an event on Sunday, 9 December.

LOCAL lad Cameron Scott said he is ready to take the modelling industry on after being crowned KwaZulu-Natal’s top male model 2018. The 24-year-old La Lucia resident was one of hundreds of hopefuls vying for the title which was announced at an event on Sunday, 9 December.

“What an honour to be seated on the KZN Top Model throne, and chosen as KZN Top Model 2018. I appreciate this opportunity immensely and will do my utmost best to retain the trust and support given to me,” said Scott.

Despite this being his first pageant, Scott proved that he was born for the ramp.

He said the pageant has given him the confidence and a platform to meet and help people while improving himself. As part of the pageant Cameron was required to lend a helping hand towards a local charity. His love for children swayed him to the direction of Hope for African Children, which he said was one of the best decisions he could have made.

“Hope for African Children impact the lives of children by creating awareness of the dangers in our society and negative effects of drugs, while empowering and mentoring them. The confidence, determination and bravery of the kids at such a young age helped encourage me going into the finale. They showed me that nothing can stop me from achieving my dreams. Despite the tough background these kids live in, they use their faith to overcome their struggles and achieve what they want to achieve.”

In his acceptance speech, Scott said: “I want to encourage all the people struggling with confidence in themselves, and provide a voice and inspiration that can show them, that it is possible to take control of your confidence.”
Cameron said his plans for the new year are to visit charity organisations and helping the less fortunate in any way he can.

“I am currently also working as a graphic designer, full time. However I do intend on growing my recent modelling career. In the new year I will be working closely with KZN Top Model management, with modelling events and charity initiatives. I have a busy and exciting year ahead,” he said.
