THE North Durban Victim Support Team was officially launched at the Durban North police station last week. The group, which is part of the Durban North/uMhlanga CPF, offers trauma debriefing to victims of crime as well as support the local hospitals.

Members of Greenwood Park CPF were also in attendance.

“Robin Candy (chairman of the Greenwood Park SAPS) and the Greenwood Park police would also like to make use of our services. Since we started the group we haven’t had an official launch so we felt it was important to let the community know we are there to help.

“So far we have 24 volunteers but we are always looking for more community minded people and will be doing two training sessions a year with new members. We’ve set up a Facebook page already and we’ve also set up a number (066 483 8589) which is available 24 hours,” she said.
