Cyclist attacked, stabbed on M4 near Riverside Road

The man was stabilised on scene before being transported to hospital.

A CYCLIST, out on an early morning ride today, was attacked and stabbed by an unknown number of suspects on the M4 Ruth First Highway.

According to Rescue Care paramedics, the man was cycling on the M4 in the vicinity of the Ellis Brown Viaduct, when the incident happened.

“Just after 5.15am a male in his 60s was assaulted. He was stabilised on scene before being transported to the nearest hospital,” said Rescue Care’s Garrith Jamieson.

Jamieson warned cyclists to be careful, especially in the early hours of the morning.

“Cyclists, cycling in the early morning and late evening, are warned to please be cautious and ride in packs,” he added.

The matter is being investigated by the relevant authorities.
