8-year-old soccer player dies in Durban North

The child was playing a game of soccer when a goal post fell.

AN eight-year-old child has died after being crushed by soccer goal posts.   According to Netcare 911 who attended the scene, the incident happened just after 6pm on Friday evening. 

“He was busy playing soccer when the goal posts fell over crushing the patient.

“A full advanced life support resuscitation was initiated however the child’s injuries were to severe and he was sadly declared deceased on the scene,” said Netcare 911’s Shawn Herbst.

Herbst went on to say the boy sustained injuries on his head, adding that the matter is still being investigated. 

“Circumstances leading up to the goal posts falling are being investigated by the Durban North SAPS who were on the scene,” he added.
