What most people didn’t seem to be aware of was that the deadline only applies to non-provisional taxpayers who choose to file at a branch. Taxpayers still have the option to submit their tax through the eFiling system which only closes on 31 January 2019.

Speaking to our journalist one of the people waiting inline said,”Tell them to extend the deadline. ”

After being informed about the eFiling service which he said he did not know about, he left the queue.

Ntombi Zuma who was also waiting for her turn said,”At my old age anything digital is a struggle. I don’t even want to try the eFiling. I’ll just wait here, hopefully I will be assisted today.

SARS has extended its working hours until 6pm.
