Four-man gang arrested on North Coast Road

The four men aged between 21 and 27, were charged with armed robbery, attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of suspected stolen property.

A GREENWOOD Park police station raid has yielded positive results as four men have been put behind bars. On Tuesday, 9 October the station’s officers were patrolling the Briardene area when they heard gunshots. When the officers turned to check what was happening they spotted a speeding vehicle.

“The police officers followed the vehicle with four occupants and pulled them over on North Coast Road. One of the suspects pulled out a firearm and attempted to shoot a police officer,” said police spokesperson Thulani Zwane.

The officer managed to disarm the suspect and restrain him.

“A 9mm pistol with six rounds of ammunition, eight cell phones and a vehicle were seized from the suspects. The four men aged between 21 and 27, were arrested and charged with  armed robbery, attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of suspected stolen property,” added Zwane.

The suspects will appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court soon.
