One killed in M4 crash

According to paramedics, the only occupant of the vehicle was trapped inside the vehicle which burst into flames.

ONE person was killed following an accident on the M4 Ruth First Highway in the early hours of Saturday morning. Members from Rescue Care Paramedics, Crisis Medical responded to the accident scene and members of the fire department had to put out a fire after the vehicle burst into flames.

According to Kyle van Reenen, the accident occurred on the south bound carriageway in the vicinity of the uMgeni River bridge.

“Reports from the scene suggest the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn several times before leaving the roadway and bursting into flames. Unfortunately there was nothing paramedics could do to assist and the single occupant of the vehicle was declared deceased on the scene,” he said.

According to Garrith Jamieson, the vehicle rolled into the mangrove nature reserve.
