What’s new at the movies?
The Meg is sitting at the top of the box office and the excitement doesn’t stop there as Nu Metro ups the ante with another prime selection of new releases at their cinemas nationwide this week.
THE SPY WHO DUMPED ME (16 LNV)
They may have minimum experience, but the two ladies (Mila Kunis and Kate McKinnon) in this action-filled comedy-adventure are going for maximum damage. Audrey and Morgan, two 30-year-old best friends in Los Angeles, are thrust unexpectedly into an international conspiracy when Audrey’s ex-boyfriend shows up at their apartment with a team of deadly assassins on his trail.
The two jump into action, on the run throughout Europe from assassins and a suspicious-but-charming British agent, as they hatch a plan to save the world.
GOLD
A fictional account, inspired by true events and people of India’s first gold medal win as an independent nation at the 1948 Olympics in London. Tapan Das (Akshay Kumar), the team manager, leads the charge to assemble the country’s first all-Indian hockey team.
His aim is to beat the Britishers at their own game, on their own turf. The Times of India rates the film highly, proclaiming: “This one is surely worth its weight in gold.”
