Home Affairs apologises for ‘downtime’
No services can be provided at all Home Affairs offices around the country.
THE Department of Home Affairs has apologised to the public for the inconvenience caused by its system failure.
On Friday morning, 10 August, the department’s offices across the country experienced a system downtime. The department says this is due to power supply outage at the State IT Agency, SITA which has affected all offices across the country.

In a statement Home Affairs said the downtime means no services can be rendered at their offices.
“Offices are unable to render all services due to HANIS, National Population Register and Live Capture systems that are not working. All birth, marriages, death, Smart ID and passport services are affected,” read the statement.
It went on to say, “SITA and Home Affairs technicians are investigating the problem, and clients will be updated on when services will be restored.”
