LISTEN: Protest action brings N2 traffic to a standstill

Traffic is still backlogged due to a secondary accident.

TRAFFIC on the N2, near Spaghetti Junction, has been severely affected due to protest action. Commuters travelling north and south have been affected.

Blue Security’s community and media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios confirmed that the protest action had turned violent with vehicles travelling on the busy highway being stoned.

Debris was also set alight on the road.

The Road Traffic Inspectorate had dispersed the crowd.

Mathios confirmed that police are still on scene and are monitoring the situation.

Traffic is currently still being affected on the southbound carriageway, due to a secondary accident.

“The vehicle had arrived to assist the fire department and had fallen on its side after swerving to avoid an accident,” he said.

Rubbernecking on the northbound carriageway was also creating some backlog.
