Electricity wire thief caught red handed

In a separate incidents Greenwood Park police also arrested three suspects for various crimes.

GREENWOOD Park Police saved the day when they arrested a suspect who broke into a municipal power house in Redhill. The suspect was caught red handed, cutting wires at the substation along North Coast Road.

Greenwood Park police spokesperson Sergeant Vincent Mthembu said, “At about 1.30pm on Monday afternoon, members of crime prevention responded to a house breaking in progress.”

He added that the suspect was still cutting the wires when police arrived on the scene.

“When our members got to the municipal power house along North Coast Road, they found the suspect busy cutting the electricity wires. He was arrested on scene,” he added.

In separate incidents Greenwood Park police also arrested three suspects for various crimes.

“The arrest of the three suspects brought the total number of suspects arrested to four. One of them was arrested for dealing with dagga and the other two for being in possession of dagga,” concluded Mthembu.
