Pedestrians escape after being bulldozed by a truck

According to Crisis Medical Services, the pair was found trapped between a road barrier and a truck.

A MAN and woman have narrowly escaped death after being bulldozed by a truck on Chris Hani Road on Wednesday morning.  According to Crisis Medical Services, the pair was found trapped between a barrier and a truck.

“Earlier today paramedics from Crisis Medical responded to Chris Hani Road for reports of a pedestrian vehicle collision. On arrival on scene a male and female were found to be trapped between an armco barrier and a truck. With the assistance of Ethekwini Fire and Rescue Services, the victims were carefully extricated, before being placed onto specialised stretchers for the treatment of neck and spinal cord injuries,” said Crisis Medical Services’ Kyle van Reenen.

Van Reenen added that advanced life support intervention was needed to stabilise the man.

“The man, who is believed to be approximately 30 years of age, suffered serious injury and advanced life support intervention was needed to stabilize him. Once stable, both patients were taken by ambulance to a nearby medical facility for further care,” he added.

At this stage the cause of the incident is unknown as the South African Police Services is still investigating.
