AACL gets into action for Mandela Day

A non-profit organisation rooted in animal protection has set out to raise R67 000.

AS part of their Mandela Day drive, the Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL), a non profit organization rooted in animal protection has set out to raise R67 000 to sterilize 67 animals.

Primary health care will be provided to the 67 animals from townships and informal settlements. Past initiatives have seen the league regularly visit disadvantaged areas and treat animals in need at a minimal fee.

Judi Gibson, general manager of the Durban branch said “If we can get 67 willing people to donate R1000 each, that R67 000 ca go a long way in upholding Mabida’s legacy this Mandela day.”

On Mandela Day (18 July), people around the world are encouraged to spend at least 67 minutes doing something positive for their communities. The day is about honouring former South African president, Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela who spent his life fighting for social justice, equality and democracy.
