Robber fires at chicken sellers

One of the suspects punched the victim's mother while the other demanded money.

A KENVILLE resident was lucky to escape unharmed after suspects posing as customers attacked him and his family. According to Greenwood Park SAPS spokesperson sergeant Vincent Mthembu the victims’s daughter was in the yard when the two suspects approached. One of the suspects was armed with a gun.

“The suspects pretended to be customers as the victim sells live chickens. While his daughter was getting the chicken, one of the suspects pulled out a firearm and pointed it to her head,” said Mthembu.

He added that the daughter then screamed for help.

“Her mother and father came out to help her. One of the suspects punched her mother while the other demanded money. The suspect shot towards the father before fleeing on foot,” Mthembu added.

This incident was the second in the space of two days in the same area. On Saturday, 19 May a house was ransacked by four armed men who managed to get away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

“The complainant was inside her home when three suspects forced entry. The suspects held her hostage in her bathroom and took various household items including a sum of cash,” said Mthembu.
