BackaBuddy page started for Durban North hit-and-run victim

The Durban North community has already raised R13 500 for Vusi Msibi.

SEVERAL Durban North residents have started a BackaBuddy page for hit-and-run victim, Vusi Msibi. The 49-year-old was knocked down on Tuesday evening by the driver of a white City Golf on Blackburn Road, who failed to stop following the accident at about 6pm.

Msibi, sustained a fractured skull in the incident and was later transported through to Addington Hospital by Crisis Medical.

The father of two works as a gardener for local resident, Trish Visagie, who has been trying to track down information about the incident.

Now, Jeanette van Vuuren, a fellow resident has started a dedicated Facebook page to keep residents up to date with Msibi’s recovery. The page Vusi Msibi Needs You already has more than 120 likes.

She has also set up a Back-A-Buddy page for Msibi which has already raised R13 500.

This is the second time Msibi has been the victim of a hit-and-run.

“A few years ago he was struck by a driver who fled the scene and that accident left his face slightly disfigured. Since the accident I have been in contact with security companies in the vicinity of Blackburn Road but there has been no CCTV footage of the accident. Someone from the Road Accident Fund (RAF) has also been in touch,” explained his employer Trish Visagie.
