LISTEN-Dark Knight’s batsuit wows audiences

Northglen News chats to Durban North resident Justin Walter who recently made a Batman suit.

BY day he is a scaffolder, but at night and at the occasional music festival, Justin Walter transforms to a side altogether different to his day job. You could call it a darker side, a tougher and more enigmatic one as well. The Durban North resident transforms into Batman (from the Dawn of Justice movie), with a trusty sidekick, albeit more powerful sidekick, in the form of Angela (his wife) who is Wonder Woman.

Walter’s cosplay story starts with a pub crawl which began 10 years ago. His elaborate design and appearances at conventions and festivals has proved a showstopper where he goes.

That was the case recently when the couple won the ‘best-dressed’ award at Splashy Fen. Northglen News recently caught up with the local resident to find out where it all began.

Walter added that he didn’t need to win the award to feel appreciated.

“Like Angela said, the reactions from fans and ordinary people makes it all worth it. Even if we didn’t win I was ecstatic with the crowd. I was hoarse all day from being Batman though,” he said.
