SUNNINGDALE’S Jason Arnold had his hands full this week with the rescue of a large African rock python weighing more than 35 kilograms. The snake and her babies were rescued from an eco-estate in uMhlanga.
Arnold was alerted to the clutch of hatchlings and the large reptile by residents from the estate who were concerned about the reptiles’ well-being. He said he had moved the snakes to a more secluded part of the estate where they would not be bothered.
“There was too much human interference once people knew about the location of the pythons in the estate, so the pythons were relocated for their own safety,” he said.

This isn’t the first time Arnold has rescued a large python in the uMhlanga area, in 2015 he rescued a 3.8-metre-long python, estimated to be heavier than 30kg.
