WATCH: Glenhills man’s proposal video goes viral

The proposal, which took place in uMhlanga, was captured on video and has already been viewed more than 3 000 times.

WHEN Glenhills resident, Candice Marie Vandersteen, was asked to be part of an impromptu family photo-shoot, she had no idea it would mark the beginning of her life with the man she loves.

After five and a half years of dating, Marchiano Markoem, crafted the perfect proposal to his girlfriend at the Beverly Hills Hotel in uMhlanga with her family in tow.

The proposal, left Candice nearly speechless, all the while her sister, Jasmine, recorded her reactions.

The couple posted the video onto Facebook and it has already been viewed more than 3 000 times.

“I had no idea my family and Marchiano were planning this at all. My dad works overseas and he was down in Durban and my mom, Mary-Ann, suggested going as a family to Beverly Hills Hotel for breakfast. My grandpa also loves going there. All the while there was this secret WhatsApp group going on where my family were planning the proposal with Marchiano.

“So when I arrived at the hotel he had set-up a photo shoot and I thought what a lovely surprise because we don’t often have many photos together as a family. My sister was there ‘pretending’ to take photos but actually videoing it the whole time. When it came to our turn and he got down on one knee I was just overwhelmed with emotions. It was just the sweetest gesture and so romantic,” she said.

Vandersteen also shared the video on to the Durban North Neighbours Facebook page to highlight the special moment.

“The reaction from the community has been phenomenal and it’s really heartwarming to read their reactions. Hearing them say they were very emotional watching the video was also incredibly touching,” she said.

The newly engaged couple.
