Suspects nabbed after high-speed chase

The men attempted to rob a policeman in uMhlanga last night.

TWO suspects have been arrested for trying to rob a policeman in Umhlanga. The two males were apprehended by Marshall Security in the early hours of this morning.

Marshall security’s Kyle van Reenen said the suspects had tried to rob an off duty policeman hours before they were arrested.

“Shortly after 01:00 this morning Marshall Security’s UIP Umhlanga security noticed a vehicle matching the description circulated by the SAPS as being wanted for attempting to rob an off duty policeman in Palm Boulevard earlier in the night.

Marshall Security armed response were immediately dispatched and the vehicle was picked up travelling on Chartwell Drive in the Umhlanga Rocks CBD,” said van Reenen.

He added that the suspects tried to flee but were apprehended on Guildford Avenue.

“A high speed chase ensued onto Umhlanga Rocks Drive with the suspects attempting to evade arrest.The vehicle was brought to a stop near to the Guildford Avenue intersection where two male suspects were apprehended and later positively identified by the victim, ” he added.

The suspects and their vehicle were handed over to the South African Police Services for further investigation.
