Motorist found guilty for the deaths of two cyclists

Jared Dwyer and Richard da Silva were cycling on the M4 when the incident occurred.

THE driver responsible for the crash which led to the deaths of two cyclists on the M4 Ruth First Highway has been found guilty of culpable homicide. Omnesh Ramnarain‚ 33‚ crashed his vehicle into the cyclists on 7 February 2016.

The duo was part of a group of around 30 cyclists from the Kings Park Cycling Club.

The Phoenix plumber was found guilty of reckless and negligent driving which resulted in the deaths of two cyclists. Jared Dwyer was from Glenwood and Richard da Silva from Glen Anil.

He was also convicted of two counts of culpable homicide and his driver’s licence revoked.

Sentencing will be on 25 May this year.
