VIDEO: ‘Brace yourselves’ says Zuma

"I was not even present when the arms were bought, maybe my spirit was there," Zuma told his supporters and journalists.

FORMER president Jacob Zuma says South Africans should brace themselves as the case against him unfolds. On Friday, 6 April, Zuma appeared in the Durban High Court facing 16 charges related to corruption, money laundering, racketeering and fraud.

Thousands of people supporting him marched through Durban, chanting pro Zuma slogans and songs.

The charges against the former head of state date back to when he was deputy president under former President Thabo Mbeki.

Addressing his supporters in isiZulu outside court, Zuma said, “The case is very complex but it will continue. Those who want the case to continue however should be careful as they may not like the outcome as the case continues because the truth always reveals itself. I’m accused of buying arms that were bought when I was here in the province and not in national government. Maybe my spirit was there, I don’t know, but let’s leave it to the courts,” said Zuma.

The case has been postponed to 8 June 2018.
