Twitter reacts to Vicki Momberg’s sentencing

The Randburg Magistrate's Court on Wednesday handed down its judgement of Momberg for using a derogatory word against a black police officer 48 times.

VICKI Momberg has been sentenced to three years in prison, with one year suspended, for her racist tirade in 2016.

The former estate agent is the first person in South Africa to be sentenced to imprisonment for racist abuse.

The Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday handed down its judgement of Momberg for using a derogatory word against a black police officer 48 times.

Momberg was found guilty of four counts of crimen injuria in November last year after she was seen shouting racial slurs at a black police officer in 2016 who was trying to assist her after she was involved in an alleged smash and grab incident.

In a viral video, Momberg could be heard complaining about the “calibre of blacks” in Johannesburg.
