Sandile Shange's bicycle was stolen while visiting his best friend and training partner.

A LOCAL cyclist has appealed to the community to be on the lookout for his bicycle after it was stolen outside St Augustine’s Hospital on Thursday. Sandile Shange, said the bicycle is worth around R45 000.

Shange is the training partner of Mhlengi Gwala who was  brutally attacked by three men who tried to cut off one of his legs using a hacksaw. At the time of the theft, Shange was visiting his friend and training partner.

He has since posted on his Facebook page appealing to residents to be on the lookout for the bicycle.

“My bicycle was fastened to the back of my car and was locked in place. I parked on the street when I visited Mhlengi. I was there for about two hours and when I came out I noticed my bicycle was missing from the frame. Somebody cut the cable lock on the frame and stole my bicycle. I asked the car guards in the vicinity, but they didn’t see anyone.

“I’ve had the bicycle for three years and I normally use it for events and training with Mhlengi. If people see it on the road or at a bicycle shop, I urge them to let me know,” he said.

Shange also gave an update on Gwala who is due to be released on Monday.
