Home remedies for your skin

Home remedies can assist in maintaining or improving your skin. What are some of the simplest and yet effective home remedies for the skin?

Scientific research shows that the human skin responds to the change of climatic conditions during different seasons. It is therefore not surprising that many people invest in creams, moisturisers and other skin nourishing products just to maintain or improve their skin condition through the seasons. The good news is that there are a number of home remedies you can use to improve, soften, nourish and pamper your skin. Below are some of these home remedies.

Honey

Honey is a perfect home remedy especially for dry skins. All you need to do is to take one teaspoon of honey and massage on the skin daily. Benefits of raw honey include reducing breakouts, providing moisturizing properties, containing antiseptic qualities, encouraging wound healing, fighting allergies or rashes, and helping to reduce scars. Apply it and leave it on for about 10 minutes and then wash and dry. Not only will your skin become softer but it will also glow.

Milk

Milk has the ability to soften and nourish the skin as well as help in de-tanning and making it sensuous. All it takes is washing off your skin with fat milk twice a day or just splash with a small bowl of cold milk on your skin and dry after some minutes.

Banana

Banana is a common man’s moisturiser and nourisher especially dry skins. All you do is mash a ripe banana and massage the skin with the pulp, then wash off after some minutes to get the best results.

Almond

Whether you are using pure almond oil or almond paste, both are excellent sources of Vitamin E. For dehydrated and dry skin, first massage the face with one teaspoon almond oil and then make a paste of 10 almonds mixed with a little milk and scrub it gently onto the skin. Wash the face with milk and then water. Not only will this help patchy skin but will give the skin a youthful texture.

Sugar

Sugar is an excellent skin softener. For best results, mix the grains with curd to bring back life to the driest of all skins. You can also take one teaspoon of sugar and mix with one teaspoon of malai and gently massage onto the skin. Leave it on for 10 minutes and then wash with cold water.

Cucumber

If you have oily skin and want to lighten its tone, then applying a mixture of cucumber and lemon juice on it works wonders.

The home remedies recommended above should see you maintain or even improve your skin.
