WATCH: Arnold rescues black mamba out of car engine

Jason Arnold is no stranger to rescuing venomous snakes not even reptiles hiding in the engine of a car.

A LARGE black mamba that managed to wedge itself in the engine of an unsuspecting Newlands West driver has been rescued by Sunningdale snake man, Jason Arnold.

The owner of the vehicle reportedly spotted the 2.1 metres mamba in his engine when he stopped in the Durban CBD on Saturday (3 March). A large crowd of people soon formed around the vehicle making it difficult for Arnold to to safely remove the reptile.

Listen to Arnold explain how the snake was safely removed.

Arnold is no stranger to rescuing venomous snakes, in February last year he rescued a black mamba from a Parlock woman’s bed. What is more he captured the rescue of the snake on video.

Then at the end of last year, he discovered 2.2 metre black mamba under an Avoca family’s couch.

The rescue comes a week after a black mamba was found on a beach on the KZN south coast. Though unusual to see mambas on a beach, snake experts said it was possible that due to the extremely hot weather, the snake was cooling down on the shore or having a drink of salty water and may have been tired or caught up in the waves.

That rescue was also captured on video.
