Armed suspect robs La Lucia Mall clothing store

Police are still looking for the suspect who robbed the store as it was closing.

A SUSPECT armed with a handgun robbed a La Lucia Mall clothing store on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS, the robbery occurred at about 5.50pm.

“There were no customers in the shop at the time and the store was in the process of closing when a suspect entered the stored. He pulled out a handgun and ordered staff members into a room where he locked them in. He then stole a large amount of cash from one of the tills and stole various cell phones. We believe the suspect fled through the parking area and a getaway vehicle was used. Thankfully no one was injured in the robbery. At this stage our investigations are ongoing,” Deokaran said.
