Share the joy with HOLAH at Secret Sunrise

The residents are raising funds for the House of Love and Hope (HOLAH), which offers a safe loving haven for abandoned/orphaned babies.

TWO Durban North residents are hoping to raise funds and awareness for House of Love and Hope (HOLAH) next month. Jane Kilian (GI Jane) and Jodie-Lee Donnison are raising funds for the non-profit organisation, which offers a safe loving haven for abandoned/orphaned babies. They plan on holding Secret Sunrise HOLAH Share the Joy under a Disney theme.

“We chose a Disney theme for the children and we saved it for this special occasion. We know not everyone knows all the Disney characters but this can also be a rough interpretation, so if you want to be a Minion or Pixar Car you can do that. The idea behind the secret sunrise was to get people to do something different while also having fun.

“The secret sunrise is a guided meditative dance, there’s a slow section, a groove section and a horsepower section which is a little more dancy, we then go back down the order to end on a light note. We usually theme our events so people don’t have to dress to the theme but this is going to be ‘fun’-draiser,” Kilian said.

Durban North resident, Jodie-Lee Donnison, echoed Kilian’s thoughts.

“We host one major event for HOLAH each year which is the high tea at Grace Family Church Riverside. This year I wanted to do something different with an element of fun to it. Jane did a themed event for LIV Village on Mandela Day last year and I thought we’ve never done something like this other so it was a no-brainer for me. I think an event like this focuses on the community and is a great way for people to learn more about HOLAH,” she said.
