Pedestrian dies in six-car pile-up

Paramedics stabilised the two serious patients before transporting them to hospital.

A PEDESTRIAN was killed and a motorist seriously injured in a six-car-pile up on the N2, near to the Kwamashu interchange on Friday morning.

Crisis Medical Emergency Services’ Kyle Van Reenen said the pedestrian was hit by a car. “A pedestrian had been struck by a light motor vehicle. Secondary to this incident, several other motorists collided,”said Van Reneen

Van Reenen said when they arrived on scene the deceased was still alive, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

“The pedestrian was found lying in the roadway, having suffered critical injuries, whilst a passenger of the vehicle involved was found seated in the wreckage with serious injuries,” he said.

Paramedics stabilised the two serious patients.

The exact cause of the incident is unclear at this stage.
