City launches new complaints number

The eThekwini Municipality says there is one number for all complaints by residents.

THE eThekwini Municipality has officially launched its ‘all-round’ number for complaints regarding its services.

The One Number Service deals with all municipal queries regarding water, electricity, roads and refuse collection. The city’s Tozi Mthethwa said this was an attempt at reducing problems experienced with some of the previous numbers.

“I am aware with the issues with the old electricity line, and the managers have promised that this new number will be fast and efficient. As councillors, we will monitor this very closely,” said Mthethwa

She adds community members must remember that councillors are not the first stop for a service complaints. In stead said Mthetwa, call the new number; 080 311 1111.

“The first step is always to phone the above number, and ensure that you receive a reference number. If the matter has not been addressed in a reasonable time, then you can contact your councillor with the reference number, “ concluded Mthethwa.
