Two burn to death in M4 accident

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

TWO people were killed in a horror accident on the M4 Ruth First Highway on Sunday evening.  According to Rescue Care’s Garrith Jamieson the accident occurred near the Glenashley off-ramp.

“Paramedics found the vehicle had left the M4 and crashed into a pole before bursting into flames near the Glenashley off-ramp on Sunday evening around 11pm. Tragically, both occupants burnt to death in the vehicle after being entrapped in the wreckage,” he said.

At this stage the cause of the accident is subject to a police investigation.

This was the second tragedy Rescue Care Paramedics responded to over the weekend after an alleged suicide from the Umgeni Bridge.

“A woman in her 30s has jumped to her death from the Umgeni Bridge onto the N2 southbound a short while ago. She was declared deceased on the scene,” he said.
