ATM thieves nabbed on North Coast Road

The suspects were handed over to the Durban North SAPS.

TWO men were arrested on Friday after robbing an ATM user of his bank card at an ATM on Chris Hani Road (North Coast). Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen said armed officers were alerted to an incident just before 11am on Friday.

“Reports from the scene allege that while the victim was attempting to use the ATM, they were approached by two men. The men insisted on assisting the victim to use the ATM and started pushing buttons erratically before ejecting the victim’s bank card and fleeing to an awaiting getaway vehicle.

“A description of the vehicle and its registration was circulated to all Marshall vehicles in the area and the suspects were spotted traveling north on Umhlanga Rocks Drive, where they were brought to a stop just before the M41 on ramp. The men were arrested and handed over to the South African Police Services for further investigation and processing,” he said.
