Man robbed by ‘police officers’ while urinating on side of M4

The suspects stole his wallet, a firearm and cell phone before pushing the victim out of the vehicle and driving off.

DURBAN North SAPS are investigating a case of common robbery after a man was allegedly robbed by suspects pretending to be police officers on Tuesday afternoon. According to a police source, the man stopped on the M4 just after the eMdloti turn-off to relieve himself.

The man was then confronted by three people claiming to be police officers in another vehicle. They told him to get into their vehicle because he was going to be charged a police station.

The suspects, two men and a woman, then drove towards the RTI buildings before driving into a sugarcane field. They pointed a gun at the victim and demanded his valuables.

Police say they are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the case.

The incident follows a similar modus operandi last month when a visiting doctor was robbed on the M4 of a large sum of cash by suspects using blue lights.
