Suspect in Siam Lee case faces more charges

State prosecutors allege the accused is linked to two other cases in KZN.

THE 29-year-old man arrested in connection with the murder of Siam Lee appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Monday morning.

According to reports, the man is alleged to have kidnapped and murdered the 20-year-old Durban North resident, whose burnt body was discovered in a sugarcane field in New Hanover more than a week ago.

The man was taken back into police custody at the Durban North SAPS after he was linked to two other cases in KwaZulu-Natal.

The prosecutor of the case has barred the media from taking photographs as there are more identity parades to be conducted.

According to the state, he has been linked to other cases in Umbilo and Pietermaritzburg.

“The suspect is facing charges for murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm, reckless and negligent driving and defeating the ends of justice. A charge of kidnapping has been added,” SAPS provincial spokesman, Col Thembeka Mbhele.
